I had the honor of meeting the Ambassador of Qatar, His Excellency Mr. Khalid Rashid S.H. Al-Mansouri.
Interestingly, this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Qatar.
We discussed the importance of strengthening the ties between our two nations, both culturally and economically.
As an active member of the Francophonie, Qatar plays a key role in promoting the French language worldwide, in addition to being an important partner in security, diplomacy, and peace promotion.
I was also pleased to learn that the Ambassador, like me, comes from an Indigenous community.
It was an enriching exchange, and I am honored by the opportunity to strengthen the cooperative ties between our nations.
