Deadline

The nomination period will begin on November 1 2025, and will end on February 1, 2026. The form will no longer be accessible after this date to allow for the processing of nominations. Nominations will only be accepted through the form.

We invite First Peoples communities and organizations who wish to submit nominations and have not received our email to contact us at distinctions@mce.gouv.qc.ca.

A few instructions before completing the form

A nomination form will be available as of November 1, 2025 and must be completed by the individual or organization recommending the nomination. When submitting, please:

  • Maintain discretion regarding each nomination to avoid any disappointment, embarrassment, or discomfort for the person or organization if the nomination is not selected.
  • Ensure correct use of accents, hyphens, uppercase, and lowercase letters.
  • Complete all mandatory fields marked with an asterisk (*). Omitting a required field will prevent you from proceeding to the next step.
  • Do not write in all capital letters. This will result in the form being rejected.
  • Accurately spell the first name and birth surname of the nominee, as this information will be used for the official title when the medal is presented.
  • Write your text in the language (French or English) in which you wish the recipient's presentation to be made during the ceremony.
  • Summarize, in 60 words or less, the nominee’s main achievements and their contribution to the advancement of their community, nation, or Indigenous Peoples, in Quebec, Canada, or internationally. This text may be used to present the person during the ceremony.

At the end of the selection process, the Director of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office will inform the recipients by letter and send an official invitation. The granting of the medal is not automatic.

Award Ceremony

Upon receiving the official invitation, each recipient must be present at the ceremony in person to receive their medal. Only deceased individuals may be represented.

For the Inuit medal, we will contact the recipient and make arrangements for the presentation.

There are no financial rewards associated with the Lieutenant Governor’s Honours Program.
